Dirty Honey

So here is an up and coming band that has caught my attention. Dirty Honey is a band out of L.A I caught opening for Red Sun Rising back in March at the Bourbon down in Lincoln. I dig the dirty (no pun intended) blues-rock sound combined with Marc LaBelle’s killer vocals. I chatted with the band at their merch booth after their set and praised him as having the range to fill in for Myles Kennedy or even Josh Kiszka of Greta Van Fleet. Different bands for sure, but his sound is terrific. A somewhat funny story to relate… their guitarist is John Notto and as I was talking to him I asked him if he had ever seen the 80s Brat Pack movie “Sixteen Candles.” As you would expect that question got kind of a “WTF” look from him, so I kind of had to scramble to get to the point quickly. I went on to explain that one of the songs Dirty Honey played in their set reminded me of one obscure scene of that movie where the Stevie Ray Vaughan song “Lenny” is playing on the radio in the background because of how his guitar sounded. SO, for future reference: If you are going to compliment a guitarist it’s usually best not to lead with “Have you ever seen the movie Sixteen Candles?” Check out Dirty Honey’s new song “When I’m Gone” below!
