Slipknot made an unexpected return with “Arsenal,” its first new song in more than three years. The track arrives with an official music video directed by percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan and starring actor Jackson White. The release follows the band’s 2023 standalone single “Bone Church” and marks the group’s first new music since 2022’s The End, So Far.
“Arsenal” also represents the studio debut of drummer Eloy Casagrande, who joined Slipknot in 2024 after the departure of Jay Weinberg. The release comes shortly after longtime turntablist Sid Wilson left the band, while sampler and keyboardist Craig Jones departed in 2023. The song’s arrival therefore introduces a new chapter for the Iowa metal group as its lineup continues to evolve.
Musically, the track delivers the aggressive combination of crushing riffs, rapid percussion, electronic elements and Corey Taylor’s forceful vocals that has defined Slipknot’s sound. Louder reported that Taylor described the song as “pummelling,” noting its shifts from frantic passages into a major closing breakdown. Other coverage highlighted its blend of metal, punk and hip-hop influences and the prominent scratching and turntable-style effects throughout the track.
“Arsenal” is also the first release issued through Slipknot’s new label imprint, (sic)est Records, in partnership with Roadrunner and Atlantic. The band is also continuing work on its eighth studio album, with producer Matt Wallace involved in the sessions, although Slipknot has not announced an album release date or confirmed whether “Arsenal” will appear on the project.
